How to Remove Chewing Gum from Carpet

Chewing gum might keep your breath fresh, but it can also be one of life’s little annoyances, particularly if it ends up getting trodden into carpet.  We have three different solutions for you to try, which should leave you with a gum free carpet.

Chewing Gum Remover

The best method for removing chewing gum from carpets is to apply professional chewing gum remover then break-up and remove softened gum with a blunt knife.

Ice

The alternative method for removing gum from carpets involves using ice to freeze the gum before you try to break it away from the fibres.  Simply apply ice cubes to the problem area and ensure you leave enough time to freeze and harden the gum. Once frozen, peel the gum away from the surface taking care not to pull too hard and risking damaging the fibres.

Heat

If that fails, the other way to get gum out of carpet is to use a hairdryer to heat the gum and make it more pliable. It will then be easier to scrape out of the fibres and remove. So if you’re having problems try both techniques.
